Riverside ESC’s emphasis throughout the educational journey is on shared learning: the children, the family and education staff learn from each other and together we make progress that ultimately benefits each and every child.
Riverside Education Support Centre offers classes ranging from Kindergarten through Year 6. Children qualify to attend Riverside ESC after being assessed for any of the following:
Enrolments at Riverside ESC are not restricted by the enrolment boundaries that apply to mainstream public schools. Students travel to us from all parts of Mandurah and beyond. Classes are generally composite, made up of children at different year levels. Our classes take into consideration varying learning abilities, behavioural challenges and requirements for hygienic and medical support, enabling the best possible distribution of teacher and staff resources.
Our skilled teachers and educational staff have massive cumulative experience that is focused to bring about positive learning experiences for our students; experiences that will shape your child’s future, maximize future employment and social opportunities and make progress toward preparing him or her become an independent, thoughtful and confident human being.
Riverside ESC is committed to complying with and promoting the Department of Education’s Workplace Safe Guidelines, recognising the right of every individual to work in a safe environment free from aggressive behaviour, threats and violence. We recognise that such behaviour disrupts teaching and learning and has an impact on staff, students, parents/caregivers and the community.
Each student’s educational development is guided by Individual Education Plans, formulated by the class teacher and approved by the Principal. These plans are communicated to parents and caregivers twice a year and opportunity is created, not just at special meetings but throughout the year, for parents to learn of their child’s progress and to provide feedback from the home environment. The formal and informal meetings also allow teachers to convey to parents areas of concern or identified challenges that require some form of resolution. While our student’s milestones may differ from regular schools, they are nevertheless milestones of great significance and we look forward to celebrating achievements with each child’s family.
At the completion of their learning journey at Riverside ESC, students will graduate to another special education learning facility and in some instances attend regular high school. The transition is managed thoughtfully, tailored to individual student needs and carried out over several months.

Before Hunter moved to Riverside ESC, he wasn’t learning much at all! He couldn’t read properly, he couldn’t write full sentences, he spent 5 years in another school but the past years at Riverside have made huge impacts on Hunter’s learning, we are amazed at his achievements!
The best thing is that his triggers are worked out straight away. He isn’t left on his own and given ways to work through them, which in turn has stopped his frustration-based violent outbursts. We appreciate everything all the staff have done in supporting the best educational outcome for our son. Thank you.
