What’s Happening at School and in Our Community

The City of Mandurah will celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD)at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on 3 December 2024. Riverside Education Suport Centre is pleased to support this event through the provision of event information to our school community.
Variety brought their 2024 Creative Car Cruise to Riverside ESC last week, enthralling students and their families, and staff too. Students got to sit inside vehicles, pretend to drive, talk to owners and immerse themselves in the world of shiny fabulous vehicles.

The City of Mandurah is working on an exciting project to increase the accessibility of the Koolaanga Waabiny Western Foreshore Playground for people with disability by developing a social story in both PDF and digital versions. Riverside Education Support Centre is pleased to announce a major renovation of its Sensory Room has been completed. First set up in 2017, this calming space is a key tool to assist students with identifying and regulating their behaviours when it all gets a bit much. We all need a calming space from time to time.
Earth and Space Science is alive and well at Riverside ESC. Students across all year levels have been working hard investigating, exploring, and inquiring about our Earth, Moon, Sun and solar system.
National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology, held this year from 13th to 21st August in events all across Australia. It was also marked with immersive and inclusive learning activities at Riverside ESC.
Today is National Sorry Day. The Department of Education's Director General, Lisa Rodgers, reminds all schools and their communities that this is a time to acknowledge and understand Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities.
Fishability's Mandurah section has created history with the launch of its new boat at the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club (MOFSC) on Friday 27 August. “M.V Fishability”, constructed locally by Bouvard Marine, is believed to be the first purpose designed and built fishing boat for people with disabilities in Australia.
