School Board and P&C

Admin Suite Extension 1 Feb2018The Combined Schools Board

The Riverside Schools Board consists of elected community, parent and staff representatives from the Primary School and the Education Support Centre. The School Board meets regularly to maintain an overview of operations for both schools and ensure ongoing compliance with the School Board Constitution and Code of Conduct. They also take part in planning, monitoring and reviewing school priorities and policies.

The School Board sets and approves annual voluntary contributions, personal items lists and endorse the schools’ development plans.

The elected chairperson for 2019 is the Hon. David Templeman MLA.

In 2017, members of the Board undertook professional development pertaining to the work and responsibilities of this office, led by Emeritus Professor Jo Barker (Curtin University). The course covered effective management, board responsibilities, scope of board membership, involving the community, addressing key priorities and setting appropriate and achievable strategies. A major outcome was the creation of a Vision Statement for the Combined Schools Board:

“Providing strategic assistance to support the schools in meeting present and future business plan visions”

Parents and Citizens Association

The Riverside Primary Schools P&C Association (RSP&C) is a parent representative body of both Riverside Primary School and the Riverside Education Support Centre. The P&C is affiliated with the state body WACSSO.

P&C Associations are the forum for parents and citizens in government schools who have an interest in their children's education. Primarily the P&C provide extra resources for the benefit of school students. Members of RSP&C have varying levels of involvement and contribution from being an Executive Committee Members responsible for making decisions in regards to fundraising (e.g. Easter Raffle, Mother's and Father's Day Stalls and an Annual Christmas Raffle), the canteen and uniform shop, right through to simply being an extra pair of hands when needed.

Being on RSP&C can be very reqarding. It is an opportunity to get to know the Principal and Administration staff, meet other parents in a friendly environment, be part of a decision-making group and make a difference in the school community.

Up to date information on school and education department happenings are discussed at meetings. These meetings are held once a month on the third Monday of every month throughout each term, at 3.15 pm in the school staff room. Dates are advertised in the term planner. Meetings usually last about an hour.

All members of the school community are encouraged to be involved in activities. To learn more about your Riverside Primary Schools P&C Association, (deleted - awaiting update).

The Riverside Schools P&C has supported the school by providing funds for projects such as air-conditioning in the original school buildings, playground equipment and annual contributions toward education encouragement awards, including the sports carnival.

You are welcome to contact RSP&C by emailing riversidepandc@yahoo.com.au.

We thank this dedicated group and urge you to join in the gift of volunteering.
