Department Compliments RESC

There are many influences upon school attendance by students, and it is sometimes the case that students with disabilities have carers who think attendance is not a high priority. Nothing could be further from the truth. A disciplined, regular approach to primary school life builds the foundations for follow-up education and future opportunities. Riverside ESC places strong emphasis on regular attendance and this approach has generated both improved participation at school and generated recognition from the Department of Education.

In a letter to Principal Jim Douglas, Margaret Collins, Regional Executive Director states: 

"I am writing to congratulate the staff and students of Riverside Education Support Centre in improving both the overall attendance  and the percentage of students who attended regularly. Regular attendance is essential for students to achieve academic and social outcomes and experience success at school. Thank you for the hard work and dedication of the staff, students and school community to achieve this improvement."
